Posted by nanotech: For years nanotechnologists have been predicting the creation of molecular assemblers, manmade machines that are copies of the biological machines we see in nature, that can bond and stack atoms and molecules together to form structures under programmed control. At last it has been done, and while it is somewhat "primitive" and nowhere near as advanced as natural nano machines, it is a major step through the hurdles and a big milestone to full blown manmade replicators.
The question now is: Where will it go from here? Will they take this molecular assembler and improve on it and make better, more refined versions? We shall see.
