The world today is one of increasing specialization and of what I would refer to as " disconnection of knowledge" in other terms the tendency of all sections of our knowledge base to become unrelated to the whole.
This is most evident in the rapidly changing area of computer science, where IT has created systems that are not totally understood by the developers. These systems are now operating independently of human control, and are exhibiting adaptive behaviors. We are becoming dependent on systems that themselves might represent evolutionary "dead ends", and fail in some catastrophic way that we cannot predict or repair. Such a scenario is what I would label, "A slow descent into chaos"

I beleive that this Grand Ole planet of ours will adjust and clean the cancers that have been derived, collected and constituated thru the poor managment of her resourses, and materials. So called "Doomes Day" , I feel will be all natural and consist of many scenarios that wil eventually bring us back to an even conscientiousness with the world we are intended to keep and not destroy. Believe it people, she knows what we have done and it is time to wake us or destroy us???

The genetic manipulations of DNA, and artificial developing of viruses. It it horrifying. Someone evil minded person, or terrorist can blow away the humanity.

mankind will be decimated when the few (rulers,royalty,capitalists etc) are found
out by the many.
The whistle-blowers need to blow louder.
Failing that... we are overdue for an asteroid.

Alls it would take now is one large volcanic explosion. One explosion as in the last 2 millenium where crops fail for 3 years after. This would cause mass starvation, with only a few countries having sufficient stores there would be no help for the many.Billions would die.

Still waters run deep. Life is a Grand Illusion, but
we will Awake. The actors now onstage in the final act have become obsessed with their acumen. This will have an unwelcome effect on the play, but what a fabulous Ending. Sorry for being so cryptic.
