(Score: 1) by Koen on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 @ 03:08:35 UTC (User Info | Send a Message) http://no.nl/tesla That is the way Edwin Gray was doing it.  If you forget about the coils that drive the Gray engine,  all you see is a step-up converter that includes a high-voltage capacitor, a special high-voltage switch 'the Gray tube' (but indeed one can use an overvoltage plasma switch or thyristor),  and also a large battery-bank for charge and energy storage. dV/dt  is not the only factor to optimise,  the other factor 'Q' (static charge)  should be optimized by using multiple batteries in parallel  (a large battery bank).  Most OU researchers forget this, and my theoretical analysis points this out clearly. There are several failed attempts to duplicate Bedini's results,  and one of the reasons of failure could be one should use a large battery bank (optimize Q). I was also thinking of buying a professional high-voltage switch and high-voltage supply, and then pulse a large battery bank, measure the overall energy performance during several charge/discharge cycles. Expensive stuff is available, and the question is how to do this on a low cost base. There are many unknown factors, such as the optimal voltage amplitude/frequency/pulse-shape. In any case one should prevent to run a charging current.
