What video? Anyway I presume from what you are saying that the perception of solar to generate kilowatts of heat is false.  well that's not quite true. Certainly it would take a lot of panels to generate a continuous kilowatt supply (as per government contention that its an unfeasible domestic energy solution) but:

One square metre of solar cells would produce 100Watts of power (approx).  If that was generating for 8hrs a day that's 800WHrs of power......stored in batteries. You can then use this as follows:

a 100watt light bulb + 1Kw heater + 2Kw kettle all running for 15 minutes.

That's the point about alternate energy that governments don't want the public to know. It's perfectly feasible to be energy independant IF you store the energy. Especially wind at night!! You can easily generate 4 or 5 KWH overnight from one of those small turbines.
