It would be against the law. So if you say you can catch bullets in your teeth and want James to load the gun and pull the trigger, he can't do it. Ditto for if you want him to supervise your starvation. If you say that his $1m prize is not credible because he wont test that type of claim, you are picking at nits to such a degree that you make yourself look silly. If he did supervise such a test, and an animal or person was harmed, I'm sure the same nit pickers would be pointing out what a bad guy he is that he hurt someone just to make a point. This is exactly what I don't understand. However, this kind of "catch-22" thinking is common for the fundamentalist pseudoskeptics like James Randi. "We already know this can't work so we don't need to study it" is the motto. The argument that Randi can't let someone die is also a straw man, because it takes time for a person to starve to death. If this Mr Kolodzey can truly survive on water and "prana" alone, he would surely agree to having his weight monitored and to concede defeat if significant weight loss occured. If Randi is so concerned about the man's wellfare, he could have imposed that condition.
