Given Heisenberg uncertainty, doing *anything* with "AN ISOLATED SUBATOMIC PARTICLE AT REST" should be quite difficult since said SUBATOMIC PARTICLE could be anywhere in the universe. Here is Dehmelt's viewpoint on HUP: "As the man who first found a way to catch an electron, bring it to rest in free space for a year and measure its magnetism in order to study its structure, I naturally would like to tell you a little bit about it. At the University of Gottingen, my teacher Richard Becker, in one of his lectures, drew a dot on the blackboard declaring 'Here is an electron ...' or rather 'Hier ist ein Elektron ...'. This appeared to be drastically at odds with the famous Physicist Heisenberg's claim that an electron truly at rest could not be localized and could be found anywhere in space." I do not fully understand why Dehmelt states that the particles are at rest, but I do agree with him that all of his experiments violate HUP.
