    Life After The Oil Crash
Posted on Sunday, February 29, 2004 @ 19:02:16 UTC by vlad

General Bill Aleck writes: Its being called a "profitable decline".http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/

I like this quote: "Deal with Reality, or Reality will Deal with You."

Alan Greenspan said the other day about "dealing with" the social security issue. We're told social security is "stable" for the next 40 years - is it really?

Will FREE ENERGY/OU save the day? What do you think?

Keep in mind that the solution MUST be profitable - to the very end...

    ------------

    Dear Reader,

Civilization as we know it is coming to an end soon. This is not the wacky conclusion of a religious cult, but rather the result of diligent analysis sourced by hard data and the scientists who study global “Peak Oil” and related geo-political events.

So who are these nay-sayers who claim the sky is falling? Conspiracy fanatics? Apocalypse Bible prophesy readers? To the contrary, they are some of the most respected, highest paid geologists and experts in the world. And this is what's so scary.

The situation is so dire that even George W. Bush's Energy Adviser, Matthew Simmons, has acknowledged that "The situation is desperate. This is the world's biggest serious question."

According to Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham, "America faces a major energy supply crisis over the next two decades. The failure to meet this challenge will threaten our nation's economic prosperity, compromise our national security, and literally alter the way we lead our lives."

If you are like 99% of the people reading this letter, you have never heard of the term "Peak Oil." I had not heard the term until a few months ago. Since learning about Peak Oil, I have had my world view, and basic assumptions about my own individual future turned completely upside down.

A little about myself: A few months ago, I was a 25 year old law school graduate who found out he had just passed the California Bar Exam. I was excited about a potentially long and prosperous career in the legal profession, getting married, having kids, contributing to my community, and living the "American Dream."

Peak Oil has caused me to seriously question how realistic this vision of my life is.

Whether you're 25 or 75, an attorney or an auto mechanic, what you are about to read may shake the foundations of your life.

In the pages that follow, you will find a brief explanation of Peak Oil, the ramifications, and what we can do about it. I have designed this site with somebody new to the issue of oil depletion in mind. If you would like more in depth explanations with graphs, charts, and the like, please consult the extensive interviews, articles and sites I have linked to throughout this site.

Its an excellent exposition on the prospects that the human race faces in the next century. Its not pretty, but inevitable barring the unexpected. Its not unexpected having been predicted back in the 70's when Earth Resources Satellite data plotted out every possible oil field and every estimate of reserve capacity had been added up. In short the clock for the American lifestyle is ticking and the hands are approaching midnight. Its not all bad, only the transition back into sanity may be rough for the fast trackers, who may have not realized that through human history, few people have lived in the way we Americans have in the 20th century. The real problem, dealing with the inflated expectations that we have been conditioned to accept as reasonable. Half of the human race struggles to keep from starvation on a day by day basis, we Americans get depressed because we don't have a wide screen TV. We are very, very lucky but don't recognise our good fortune.

nut says the world is ending!

The quote if real is not in the same context as used in the post. When an admin official uses such words it usually means another round of free give-aways to energy industry cronies ,not that the sky is falling ,but you have alot of people that are unhappy and are losers who want the world to end so everyone can be as unhappy as they.

My suggestion don't fall in their 'little mind' trap.

Depending on the way we choose to react to it , the oil crash can be a crisis or an opportunity for change. It could result in massive poverty or an increased standard of living not dependent on GDP.There are other measures of well being aside from SUVs and subdivisions.
Every day most of us are stuck in traffic, the collective waste of fuel from idling engines could probably power a third world nation. To fullfill our need for peace and quiet, most of us live far from our place of employment along with an entire population of people desperately seeking the same. Are we happy? Its not some nut saying the world is coming to an end, its someone with a glimpse of sanity, taking a look at their lives and realizing, "hey this is NOT how my life should be!"

With the Quotes from Dr. Jorg Wind who is representing Daimler Chrysler stating the Hydrogen is not a viable solution, I wonder if this slashes another name from the list of Major Auto manufacturers seeking licenses from GWE? Based on the date of that conference, May 2003 it is possible that they may or may not have known of the technology...even if they did know about it, Im sure they would not change their position until the GWE technology can be proven. Just my thoughts.

Chicken Littles of the world unite!

Do any of you seriously believe this "sky is falling" crap? We have known coal reserves alone sufficient for a thousand years of energy at current usage levels. Add in tar sands, oil shale, and natural gas, and we have more than abundant reserves. Then add in garbage to oil at $10 /barrel by Changing World Technologies, and you've got oil to infinity. And we haven't even mentioned nuclear yet, with tens (or hundreds) of thousands of years energy supply available. Not that we'll need it, because within a few years or decades at most, we'll have entirely new sources.
