Your points are well-taken, Malc.

In fact, Magnetic Power, Inc., among other F-E firms, intends to get a toy-type machine into production shortly following their first "demo" devices, the latter intended for universities, other schools, scientific/technological institutions etc. Even with the toy level of device, engineers and scientists are still required to complete the "loop", as it were: the feedback to the beginning of the system to keep it going. Working capital must provide their salaries, along with the sophisticated equipment they need to do their work although the equipment is generally a one-time purchase, at least for a few years.

It might be said that batteries storing the device output, could "easily" feed back some of the "juice" to the start of the device's duty-cycle to keep up the "ignition". But the trick is to get those with the "big bucks", potential investors, convinced that a battery or two aren't providing all of the device's energy from an external source, when batteries can take hours to charge.

There is a tendency amongst most of us to think that tiny devices, like the toys, would take tiny efforts, and therefore tiny salaries. Well, yesterday my tiny tooth had a tiny abcess which required a big effort from my endodontist to repair, even though the work took less than an hour. That work on my tiny tooth cost me Cdn $700, which is a lot of money to us Canucks.

So the tiny toys will require exactly the same big efforts from our to-some-extent 6-figure professionals to get working as self-running machines. The good news is that ALL of those big efforts, including all the brand new maths they work out, will be transferred completely to the 1-KiloWatt generator project to immediately follow. Just think! All that information and knowledge will not have to be re-invented, so the 1-KWt. generator will only take less than twelve months to develop completely as a self-running device, assuming appropriate levels of license fees, royalties, and/or additional investment would start accruing to the company. By that time, it is expected that this first-ever cash flow from actual sales of licenses will allow MPI to be fairly, if not completely, as self-running as its F-E toys and "demo" units. Provided the rumoured "bad guys" don't pull some nasties on the company or any of its principals, the rest, at that time, should be history.
