Re: SUPERCONDUCTORS, ULTRACONDUCTORS and MAGNETIC POWER MODULES (Score: 1)

The ceramic superconductors, which still operate only at cryogenic temperatures, have been provided with several billion dollars in capital worldwide to make them into wire.

American Superconductor was begun by venture capital firms, rather than an entrepreneur. It has raised something like $400 million in capital, and in addition has had millions of dollars in subsidy. It has never made a profit. The cost of the wire must be subsidized for every project, as it cannot compete without subsiday.

Ultraconductors which operate at ambient temperature and well above, have had a grand total of $5 million in Angel capital.

Four Department of Defense Small Business Innovation Research contracts have been completed on these materials. The grand total of government funding has been $600,000.

Since the dot.com crash, all high-tech companies without revenue have had a difficult time attracting capital.

Ultraconductors are still three years and $18 million, from wire. This week, at last, serious interest by scientists in these materials has been reawakened. There is reason to believe that the three year wire development program may begin by the end of this year.

Magnetic Power Modules(tm) are slowly moving toward licensing and manufacturing next year. If additional funds become available, the program will be accelerated.

One potential licensee and manufacturer will visit one of our labs later this week. Others have done so, and more are interested.

Indpendent laboratory evaluation of Over Unity prototypes is in the process of being scheduled for the near future.

Self-sustaining Demonstration Devices will be first to market. These may only light a few LEDS and turn a small fan. My personal target is to see these begin to become available for purchase by the middle of next year. However, we are a licensing firm and manufacturers will have their own timetables.

1 kW Modules are likely to follow before next year is over. Here again we have no control over schedules developed by licensees.

Some of the devices we are developing will initially have built in delays due to specialized materials and processing. As new materials are developed, these problems will be reduced and prices will drop accordingly.

Hot fusion had had hundreds of billions of dollars worldwide over several decades and has never reached breakeven, i.e. Over Unity, anywhere.

MPI has accomplished breakeven repeatedly since 2004 with a total expenditure of $2.6 million from 1984 until now.

As Global Heating, a term James Lovelock prefers to Global Warming which sounds benign, becomes more obviously life threatening for our children and grandchildren, financial support for all practical carbon free energy conversion systems is likely to approximate an exponential curve.

MPI expects to be a leader in helping to supersede fossil and Uranium fuels.
We have shown what we can do with practically no resources, imagine what might be accomplished with adequate funding!
