Unfortunately, it needs another 12 - 18 months of lab work. The funding now on the horizon will provide that as well as open the door to wire. These materials are not simple to work with, as yet. Product development is more complex than you realize. Most superconductor development has required very much more capital than has been available to the Ultraconductor program to date. The development of the ceramic materias were getting about $250 million/year in the U.S., and about the same amount in Japan, when they first surfaced in the 1980's. This was the total of private and government money in each country. We have had a total of $5 million since 1993. What is needed is another $6 million/year for 3 years. That is likely to become available. Ultraconductors represent an entirely new form of conductivity. There is so much to learn that we estimate 100 universities could be doing useful research. Commercial development is now clearly going to happen. We wish it could have been accomplished earlier. But, better late... | Parent
