Chinese people had developed the Lunar Calendar to be accurate for 3 millenia, but they thought their land locates at the center of the Earth. The "modern" science is really the process of discovering what already exists. The definition to science is to know how this world works. But unless there's really solid proof, a credible line of reasoning that derives Mayan or some gibblish prophacies, I still want to make some plans for my retirement (well beyond the 2012 barrier). =P Besides, pole reversal is not a news on this planet, but living things don't get wipped out every several thousand years. And even if the pole reversal is going to happen in 2012 like the prophacy says, how can a planet stops rotating and then start again in different direction all by itself? Can you imagine the energy required to achieve that? Yes, I admit that the "Ancients" possibly knew a whole lot more than we do today, but the knowledge we have today still builds on the things we know (that includes the Shuman Resonance). You can discredit everything else we know, take some theories that are yet to be proofed, and use them to "proof" and solidify your believes in the ancient prophacies. If the apocolyps will take place in 2012 and none of us who believed in modern science saw it coming, then it's our fate to die because of our stupidity. http://fusionanomaly.net/schumannresonance.html One funny thing is that if the Mayan did see this "Great cleansing" coming, what did they do to protect themselves? Did they escape from earth? Did they perish because of this cleansing? Did they burrow underground and try to man the earth core? The fact is that they are gone, and other cultures are still around (and we are the descendents of those other cultures.)
