The rotating disc drives one of two sets of numbers, the selection of which is switched over at the appropriate time by radio signals (frequency unpublished). The price of night rate electricity is around a third of a slightly increased day rate. Great for electric storage heaters and immersion tank (hot water) elements, but little use for any other appliances unless they have timer capability. Hey, we won't have to worry about this soon when the first ZPE generators become available.
