Don't ask me, walk outside and look at the meter. Notice it's measuring usage, not cost of usage. This is the problem, that the system does not measure the difference between a person who runs the dishwasher during the Daily Show and one who runs it during Days. So there can't be any economic incentive to run it in the middle of the night. But a whole state full of improperly incentiveized ressies is breaking the system. The point of waiting until 02:00 is that hardly any power is being used at that time, so run the washer then. if you wash durring the day, that is when everyone is using the power so there is a shortage because everyone is taking it from the same source.
