Re: Answering extracting vacuum energy question (Score: 1)

According to the "standard" model of physics the ZPE is the lowest energy state, etc ....
But standards models are riddled with assumptions that were never proven by experiments in the first place. Many "impossibilities", that are ruled out by the "standard model", are unproven speculations.

Now, Tom is not capable of pointing out the weaknesses in the standard model of physics. His defence of harvesting ZPE energy  is weak.

I am afraid that Puthoff and others do not offer a real solution to Scott's argument  via the introduction of the stochastic electrodynamics model.
I repeat:  this is just a model,  and predictions based on models isn't physics.

The toy physics models of Jack Sarfatti  speaks of a 'false' vacuum state of 'flat land'  (a false minimum energy)  which can be lowered  (also known as curved space, gravity, also known as a symmetry breaking of the ZPE, etc ....).  Jack applies Bohm's 'micro'-physics,  so he is not tied to quantum-physics which does not describe macroscopic structures of the vacuum.

Some have shown that a strong static electric field in vacuum can induce a "gravitic" effect,  and now Turtur shows an "overunity effect".  Two sides of the same coin if you ask me.

The big question is:  why should a strong electric field (but not astronomical strong)  induce gravitic effects, or an overunity effect ???
Answer (??).  If you ask me, the vacuum is filled with very light particles (much lighter than electrons) that are charged, and which can be polarized (created) by a strong electric field.  Notice that electric fields over macroscopic distances for creating electrons/positron pairs are too strong (beyond  technical capability).

Turtur's explanation is implausible  (electric-field enhanced Casimir forces). Since Casimir forces fall off rapidly with distance ( f ~  1/r^4 ) and Turtur's experiment shows plate distances much larger than microns,   the amplification factor of the Casimir force by means  of the strong electric field  must be huge;  a huge Kerr-birefringence  effect  is not likely.

My opinion about Turtur's experiment:  it is not naive at all,  and unlikely to be explained by conventional physic nor air ionisation. Scott cannot explain the experimental results, therefore he calls Turtur naive, in order to hide his own ignorance.
