"Why would aliens come all the way here, just to stick things up people's asses?" j/k I do think that eventually deep space travel will be possible. And it's not going to happen with rocket fuel or solar sails. I think it's going to happen sooner than we expect. Just take a look at flight, in its short 100-year history so far. We've gone from thinking heavier-than-air flight was impossible to landing a spacecraft on an asteroid over 10 million miles away. If we continue at this pace, people will be traveling within our own solar system within this century. I do think however, that the human race has a lot of growing up to do before we start traveling to other planets inhabited by other beings. The last thing we need is some stupid redneck causing intergalactic warfare. There's obviously going to need to be heavy control over (initially) who is allowed to contact these other beings..
