Why America is Running Out of Gas
Posted on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 @ 01:34:25 GMT by vlad

General From the Jul. 21, 2003 issue of TIME magazine: "As a result, after three decades and dozens of energy bills, Congress has helped position Americans so they may be closer to an energy crisis than at any time since the oil shocks of the 1970s. And this time, the U.S. is finally beginning to run out of domestic oil and easily recoverable natural gas. Here is how it happened:.."

God, that was depressing. To witness the folly and manipulations of so long a span of years, and so bluntly and unconsciously...

I wonder what the price of gas would be, if the environmental degradation costs, etc, were included in the consumer price?! And to say, as if it was a well-known fact, that the price-setting of crude oil is controlled solely by Saudi Arabia, but overseen by the U.S. and subject to U.S. clearance?!?

It's just so far off the mark, that it is unreal. If this be a concensual reality, I'd like to dissent on a couple of points!

And don't forget the blame US carmakers deserve for their country's dependence on oil and their shrinking share of the world car and truck market. There was a time when American engines were famous the world over for their power and good design. Now they have a lot of the former, but nothing of the latter. It seems like the powerplant departments of GM, Ford and Peterbilt are still stuck in the 50's. It's terrible, but when they all go bankrupt— which considering the shortsightedness of their unions and managers, they will almost certainly will— the Germans and Japanese will not be the only ones rejoicing: so will nature.

Hey guys, don't be so pesimistic! Here is an example of American inventivity: "IT'S UNBELIEVABLE TO POWER A VEHICLE OR BUSINESS FROM WATER BY MAKING HYDROGEN ON THE FLY!! The TOTEM_H2 System is a TOTal Energy Module that runs on a hybrid form of Hydrogen gas. It has an on-board gas generation system that stores gas that it makes from water on the fly. It can even use "waste water" also known as "gray water". It is composed of an engine, a generator, and heat recovery and transfer systems. These Generators and specially built engines have zero hours and are Water-Cooled for longer engine life, heat exchangers to capture heat to move elsewhere, and generates gas for use as both a fuel for the generator and cooking. You can NOW free yourself from Gas and Electric utility bills. It's true, you can power a vehicle or business from Hydrogen made from water on the fly... Basic TOTEM_H2 5Kw (6.5 Kw surge) Generator System ... $4,995 (for a limited time includes installation) Included is a Brand NEW Generator, with 2 gallon gas storage tank, Operator's manual, installation instructions with your personalized installation plan, and hot water tank heat exchanger kit with plans and installation instructions The 5 Kw unit measures 38" long, 26" wide and 30" tall. Shipping weight is 398 pounds, and delivery is free within 500 mile radius of Los Angeles, CA..."
