Censorship = No progress

rob writes: The internet has brought with it a wonderful new thing: Freedom of communication. Never before has scientists, innovators and tinkeres been able to share ideas and concepts as fast as now. But one of the problems with being "on the edge" of science which (let's face it) free energy research is, is that it attracts people of very diverse opinions. Some would even say extreme. This unfortunately can lead to something that instead of promoting progress, hinders it: Censorship.
There are numerous e-mail groups debating theories/ideas/inventions in the free energy area, many of them residing at Yahoo! Groups.
Some of them are moderated (meaning that one, or more, person(s) must approve posts before appearing to the rest of the group members). Some groups apply moderation heavily by rejecting posts that would critisize ideas debated. Due to this censorship, these groups unfortunately are mainly "monologues" of the ideas debated. I.e. no critique is allowed.
Recently, I've been notified that people offering critique to free energy ideas/inventions are not allowed to express their comments on some groups.
This is very unfortunate, because it hinders progress. Of course, critique must be given constructively. The free energy area being by many scientists considered "crank" science, unfortunately often promotes critical comments that are more rabid, and less constructive.
But if a critique is given that invalidates an idea/invention, it must be "aired". And if a "rebuttal" to that comment is given, it must be aired too. New ideas must be aired, new inventions as well. And given review. Critical if called for.
This is how science works. This is how progress works. We all depend on it.
So this is a general call-out to all free energy group moderators to let civil constructive critisizm through.
The free energy research will likely benefit from it.

I'm beginning to think doing this work in total secrecy is the only sensible option.

Please remember where (what site) have you actually posted and don't make false accusations. I am the only one who decides what articles are to be validated or comments to be deleted. There have been very rare cases when I had to delete a comment. I only do it for offensive language; definitely not for pro or con ideas. Most of the times I censor portions of the text with explanation in the brackets for the reason. If the culprit is a member (such as yourself) I follow up with a private message. We also know when hacking attempts are made and there have been none successful recently. Please re-post and let us know if indeed you were talking about some other site and if not, maybe you can remember what were those “6 or so” comments about. |

Look for one of Vlad's posts about Rodriguez in the "latest comments" and then the article it's attached to will be the one with most of the comments. |

But, laboring the point, I still think doing the practical work in silence (ie: shut up until it works) is the only way to avoid getting stamped out. THis does NOT mean refusing to discuss the concepts, but since every single "device" seems to produce no practical outcomes, and there are sharks in this tank (planet earth I mean), what else is going to get to the breakthrough? Every sheme we try and implement will have been gamed to death by the powers that be, and they have $billions to play with.
Steven Greer opened his mouth too early, his whole plan was to get something screaming out into the daylight. Boof, gone. I know some people (hello John!) simply add this to what they see as his discredit account, but knowing the guy personally I just don't buy it.
You can bet he's beavering in the dark now - he will say squat until he has hardware (which, yes, he is not inventing himself, but every manufacturer has management).
The real censorship is pervasive, because it is taught at school, and College, and practised at all sorts of levels, not just by nasty spooks.
I'll try and read more carefully in future Vlad,

I agree with you about Dr. Greer. I believe he has noble intentions and knows he could've carried his energy "football" over the goal line for a touchdown, and I think he was pretty damn close to doing just that a few months ago when he, as you say, spoke too soon.
I don't know Dr. Greer but if he's like I think he is, then he's probably re-doubled his efforts to "get the goods" but this time he's mum until he has the device in his hands. I'm hoping he gets another chance!

Myron Evans appempts to close down any group that allows criticism of him (Score: 1) by chipotle_pickle on Monday, July 21, 2003 @ 14:48:30 UTC (User Info | Send a Message) http://freehydrogen.blogspot.com | This is one reason for moderators to censor posts. I note that Yahoo! did shut down two small groups, nut_meg and italianphysics. His tinfoiledness shut down tombearden, and might have removed some of his posts to free_energy, or maybe Yahoo! did it. It's unlikely Yahoo! will close the 1000 subcriber free_energy list, even less sarfatti science, but who knows. Evans seems ready to go to Parliament to ask that it be made illegal to report that Crowell claims he asked not to be included as an author for the awful MEG papers.
To Yahoo Incorporated:
As per many previous complaints I demand shut down of the
free_energy and sarfattiscienceseminar groups. Copious documentary evidence is
available that they contain or contained many defamatory statements against my
staff at AIAS and myself. Precedent in British case law (Godfrey vs. Demon)
then demands that the ISP, Yahoo Inc., shut down these groups entirely. This
precedent has been dramatically reinforced by the fact that three harassing
Yahoo groups have recently been shut down by Yahoo Inc. in response to complaints
from AIAS members of staff:
"nut_meg"; "tombearden" and "italianphysicscenter".
The group aias_discuss was an open group, and was voluntarily shut down as a
defensive measure against libel and harassment.
However viciously defamatory messages continue to be posted on the above two
groups concerning AIAS and myself. This material continuously reinforces the
case against Yahoo for considerable damages, and the case for criminal in
vestigation of harassment.
Yahoo has admitted defamation by shutting down three entire
groups, and by removing some messages from "free_energy", and so is now liable
to pay damages to AIAS and myself. AIAS is asking for such damages to be paid
to it by Yahoo Inc.
Criminal investigation is being requested by AIAS for
alleged first degree harassment and menacing and threatening conduct. Further
threats have been received to disseminate this libel further and to continue
harassment, so I request Governmental agencies to step in with new urgent and very
tough legislation to control the internet all over the world. For example
legislation to shut down the entire Yahoo Corporation if necessary and to control
the at present unpoliced dissemination of vast amounts of libel. If necessary
the legislation would hit hard at the technical means by which such libel is
disseminated.
