Here in Sweden an amateur scientist has recently developed ideas not unlike those of Viktor Schauberger. It’s about harnessing the Coriolis force. The Coriolis force amongst other things govern the rotational direction of air streams in low pressure areas so they are counter clockwise on the nothern hemisphere and clockwise on the southern hemisphere.

Inventor Vladimir Kangas from Göterborg has worked with this during 25 years and together with his partner Hillar Neem he has documented these ideas in scientific form and purportedly also have constructed a working prototype, based on these ideas. He has been so successful that he has been able to patent the idea in Sweden, something seldom accomplished with unorthodox inventions such as this.

Chalmers University professors Erik Olsson and Olle Brander has studied the invention and with great effort analysed it mathematically. Their opinion is that although the thoughts behind the invention are cunning and intresting, it can be shown that the invention cannot work. The Swedish patent office does not assert the inventions validity, however they say they lack resources to prove the opposite. Kangas has provided reasonable proof of the inventions validity and therefor the patent office feels they need to approve of the patent.

Kangas and Neem think the largest problem is psychological. They say that people often reject new and surprising thoughts and results. Given enough time and resources they are confident to prove conclusively what can be done with their invention.

But equally possible is that professors Olsson and Brander are correct and this invention leads nowhere. That would indeed be a sad for the inventor, but most sad of all it would be if there arises conspiracy theories suggesting that the inventors are supressed secretly by the industry. Such theories circulate widely around other “free energy” inventions, for example cars that are powered by non-conventional means.
Elements spreding these kinds of rumours claim that new, and innovative designs are often bought by the industry with the intention to “shelve” ideas threatening the industry itself. In reality, large industries such as the automobile industry spend enormous amounts on R&D surrounding alternative means of powering vehicles. So the cost from an idea to a new product can be huge, prohibiting the industry to follow on anything but the most promising projects.

The same can happen to the Coriolis machine. If it costs billions of dollars before even knowing its feasability, it will take a long time before we will see anything practical using the technology. It thus isn’t because of a malicious industry, but is caused by simple economics.

But if the road from this patent to working technology is shorter, maybe inventors Kangas and Neem will succeed.
