Wall Street has less appetite for risky green projects
By Nichola Groom

INDIAN WELLS, California (Reuters) - Big-scale renewable energy projects demonstrating new technologies will have a harder time getting Wall Street funding due to shaky credit markets and plunging stock prices, a Morgan Stanley (MS.N: Quote, Profile, Research) managing director said on Thursday...

"Green" energy ... there is a lot of economics involved too. Like bio-fuels, the use a lot of agriculture and forest land; in my opinion this is not green.
Only green energy is energy taken from a natural source, which would produce heath if we didn't capture is before it became heat.
Solar energy IS the future according to me. Heating water etc is possible with solar energy. Average solar energy that comes to the earth is 1.37kW/m². That is huge! If we would take all of our energy from the sun, we would need 0.1% of that energy today. We need more efficient panels than today. That looks possible to me, put solar panels on each house. It is necessary however, that we produce our energy where we consume it. All of our energy becomes heat eventually. If we take energy from somewhere else, we would boil ourselves (like we do today, cities are becoming hotter and hotter). We need to rethink the whole energy polictics.
Wind and water energy is an option too, but I don't know a lot about that.

Comment: Great video. But... I think that when we are promoting green technologies we should be accurate and appropriate. The video seems to imply that the two solar panels are able to supply enough electricity to run a light, electric burner and hot water. This is extremely unlikely - more likely impossible. The light certainly but not the hot water and cooking. It would be more appropriate (and less expensive) to use solar hot water panels for the water heating. Creating unrealistic expectations for green technologies doesn't help the cause - it harms it. / Response: Very fair comment in general. Except you missed that he's installing the panels next to an existing solar water heater. Really the only item that we took 'poetic license' with was the hotplate. At the time of shooting, we felt that the purpose of a 90sec spot was not so much to be 100% accurate as to give a general impression of the direction to move. Perhaps adding the hotplate was unnecessary. Thank you for your comment. - Source [www.youtube.com]
