ACCELERATION IN CO2 EMISSIONS ; Hydrogen breakthrough
Posted on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 @ 23:14:43 UTC by vlad

General ALARMING ACCELERATION IN CO2 EMISSIONS WORLDWIDE, May 21
Between 2000 and 2004, worldwide CO2 emissions increased at a rate that is over three times the rate during the 1990s-the rate increased from 1.1 % per year during the 1990s to 3.1% per year in the early 2000s.

STUDY: CLIMATE CHANGE MAY IMPERIL PLANTS, May 22
(AP) -- Climate change could drive many wild relatives of plants such as the potato and the peanut into extinction, threatening a valuable source of genes necessary to help these food crops fight pests and drought, an international research group said Tuesday.

HYDROGEN BREAKTHROUGH COULD OPEN THE ROAD TO CARBON-FREE CARS, May 22
A new breakthrough in hydrogen storage technology could remove a key barrier to widespread uptake of non-polluting cars that produce no carbon dioxide emissions.

SCIENTISTS DEMONSTRATE QUANTUM STATE EXCHANGE BETWEEN LIGHT AND MATTER, May 22
Quantum computers offer the promise of processing information much more efficiently than classical computers. But before quantum computers can be built, scientists must confront several challenges, one of which is quantum computers' vulnerability to their surroundings. Interaction with outside forces would immediately damage a quantum computer's information; this problem is known as "decoherence."

Man made CO2 accounts for 5% of the global CO2 produced each year (by the way thats 5% more than the natural mechanisms can cope with hence the rise before now).  At some point with man destroying those natural CO2 sinks the 95% will no longer be absorbed......then we have a HUGE problem.  In fact I would suspect that there is nothing we can do. Repairing damage is far harder and takes much longer than to simply stop burning fossil fuels.

We have to reduce man made CO2 NOW and stop destroying the natural sinks NOW.  But I am 100% confident that money talks and selfish skeptic ignorance reigns and we won't do a damn thing. So I would recommend folks to prepare for a far far warmer world.
