From Williams Energy News Live: "On Monday, the Washington bureau will bring us the latest on the tragic death of Minnesota Senator Paul Wellstone. The liberal Democrat was involved in a host of energy issues on Capitol Hill and was a strong proponent of renewable energy. His death could affect some of those issues going forward, and it could also affect the balance of power in Congress. Energy Daily Publisher Llewellyn King will join us to discuss that and other issues at noon ET."

Please see an article entitled, "Was Paul Wellstone Murdered?" (URL: http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=14399
) ', 'Does the following scenario really seem so far fetched?: Wellstone's pilot files an FAA flight plan just prior
to takeoff, indicating exactly where and when he'll be flying, and who will be aboard. This gives black op specialists
ample time to move a van or truck full of VOR/ILS (VHF Omnidirectional Radio/Instrument Landing Service) jamming equipment
into position. As Wellstone's plane approaches the airport, the VOR/ILS jamming equipment is activated, and a "decoy" VOR
signal is sent to the plane, thus tricking the plane's instruments (and the pilot) into believing the airport is somewhere
several degrees off the true course to the runway. The pilot follows that signal straight into the ground. The
non-descript van, full of covert electronic jamming equipment, casually leaves the area, looking just like any other TV
repair truck or moving van. The subsequent NTSB investigation centers on the airplane, the pilot, and the VOR/ILS system at
the airport. Everything appears to be in order, and the "accident" is attributed to "pilot error." Cynical? You bet. But
as George Bernard Shaw once observed, "The power of accurate perception is commonly referred to as 'cynicism' by those who
have not got it." I hope I am wrong. I don't think I am. And with the foxes watching the hen houses as they are, we are
left only to speculate. Sincerely, S. Michael Hoke |

It would appear that the same covert tactic was used in getting rid of Mozambique's first president, Samora Machel. ',

'http://www.dispatch.co.za/1998/06/03/southafrica/TRC1.HTM By the way, my father (a former F-104 fighter pilot) owned and
operated a King Air for many years, and I have flown many hours in the co-pilot's seat with him in that plane. This is a
highly advanced multi-million dollar turbo-prop plane. A rooky pilot would not be capable of flying such a plane. Of course
it is possible for a well trained pilot to make a mistake - but this? While theoretically possible, it is not at all
probable. Again, I hope I'm wrong. And again, I don't think I am. Oh for an honest and thorough investigation by
someone other than the filthy criminals who committed the crime. Sincerely, S. Michael Hoke |

for fresh light on Machel air crash," (URL: http://www.dispatch.co.za/1998/06/03/southafrica/TRC1.HTM ):
',
"...But how had the crime been carried out? Why was the presidential aircraft so far from its correct flight path?
Pretoria's response throughout was to blame the dead Russian pilot, Captain Yuri Novodran. But Capt Novodran was highly
experienced, with a total of 13056 hours flying time, more than half of them on Tupolev-134s. He had made 65 landings at
Maputo Airport, 70 percent of them at night.
The other crew members also held distinguished civil aviation
records -- they were unlikely to blunder onto the wrong route by mistake. When the black-box flight recorders were decoded,
it became clear that the immediate cause of the crash was a turn to the right, when the plane was about 100 kilometres
north-west of Maputo.
The conversation between the crew members showed that the turn was made because the
plane was following a signal from a VOR (a very-high-frequency omnidirectional radio beacon that is a standard navigational
aid).
', 'The crew were convinced this was the Maputo VOR --after all, there was only one legitimate VOR
anywhere nearby. At Matsapa, in Swaziland. investigations showed it was impossible for the plane to have followed the Matsapa
signal by mistake. ', '
That left just one possibility: that the plane had been deliberately lured off its
flight path by a private VOR transmitting on the same frequency as the Maputo one. [emphasis mine]
This
was a possibility that Pretoria showed no interest in investigating.
Instead, it held a unilateral inquiry
into the crash, under Mr Justice Margo, which predictably declared the tragedy an accident caused by pilot error.
Despite the insistence of Mozambique, and the then Soviet Union, as manufacturers of the plane, the South
African government refused to co-operate in any further investigation into the crash.
I just want to see an
honest investigation into the Wellstone crash which seriously entertains the very real possibility of the above-outlined
scenario. But I'm afraid what we will end up with is exactly what they got in S. Africa - another case of the foxes
watching the hen houses.
', 'Sincerely, S. Michael Hoke |
