New Energy Sources More Important than Conservation
Posted on Wednesday, June 29, 2005 @ 21:52:49 PDT by vlad

Testimonials So say 66% in Rasmussen report

Two-thirds (66%) of Americans say developing new energy sources is more important that conserving energy. A Rasmussen Reports survey found that just 27% take the opposite view and believe that conservation is more important.

The survey also found that most Americans are optimistic about the possibility of alternative energy sources--72% believe it is somewhat or very likely that hydrogen-powered cars will be developed within the next 20 years.

On the topic of nuclear power, 44% say it's "time for the United States to begin building nuclear power plants again." Thirty-five percent (35%) disagree.

However, given a choice between "relying on oil imports from the Middle East or building new nuclear power plants," 59% said that nuclear power is the way to go. Just 17% would prefer reliance on oil imports to building nuclear power plants. ...

So for the next 20 years the US will do nothing about current emissions because of an assumed solution. Even if we stopped ALL emissions now there is still decades of warming in the system. Coupled with the hidden warming due to global dimming which is clearing.

Some countries will be devastated by the changes in climate whereas others will survive albeit with some changes (like the US). But I wonder what the attitude of the US would be if the remote actions of a.n.other country destroyed its agriculture........

Then again if you own an oil company then none of this is actually happening!

Someone needs to remind interested folk that Hydrogen is not a "power source", it is a storage medium for energy. Wishing for hydrogen fuel for cars ignores the obvious question - how will all this hydrogen be prepared?

Several idiots from the oil industry have already suggested using "hydrocarbons" as the source! Doh!

And using conventional (ie: not zpe which we cannot access, yet) means of splitting water means one needs truckloads of electricity. Generated by?????
