    Sonofusion Going Mainstream
Posted on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 @ 20:13:10 PST by vlad

Science nanotech writes: Can a collapsing bubble unleash huge amounts of energy? Justin Mullins investigates the controversial claim that refuses to go away

THREE years ago, the publication of a single paper turned the world of fusion research upside down. The paper made the jaw-dropping claim that thermonuclear fusion had been observed in a beaker of nail polish remover bombarded with neutrons and sound waves. The newly discovered phenomenon, "sonofusion", seemed to overturn a generation of work on fusion and promised almost limitless cheap energy - a claim that guaranteed the research worldwide media coverage.

This is from NEW SCIENTIST MAGAZINE. Its amazing that they are giving this sound-activated fusion (or does the energy come from the vacuum flux?) serious attention.

No so amazing. Bubble Fusion/Sonofusion has been replicated and deserves to enter the mainstream of science. No reason why it shouldn't. It is a form a hot fusion. There are no theorhetical objections to Bubble Fusion/Sonofusion being real. The debate is over whether or not nuclear ash in the form of neutrons and tritium are actually being observed.

With fusion its important to understand that there is another process that can generate the signature of fusion, neutron production, without fusion taking place.
At any time or place where there is deuterium or hydrogen present, there always exists a small statistical probability that a neutron can be produced by these other mechanisms.

The Universe it seems, is in a constant state of transmutation.

Sonofusion appears to be real. The open question is if it can be scaled up to produce useful amounts of energy on demand.

There is Ross Tessien, who has founded impulse Devices (www.impulsedevices.com) to commercially develop sonofusion technology. Ross Tessien is a long-time figure in the "new" energy field.

Hopefully, his start-up will be successful.

Using neutrons to generate fusion? They forgot to mention the amount of energy it takes to generate neutrons. I think someone's been in the back room sniffing that bottle of nail polish remover!
